Most legal philosophical activities in Sweden take place in the higher seminars in Jurisprudence, led by Professor Jes Bjarup, Stockholm, Professor Åke Frändberg, Uppsala, Associate Professor Håkan Gustafsson, Gothenburg and Professor Aleksander Peczenik, Lund. Each year a common symposium is arranged. This year, the seminar was held in Stockholm, Okt.21-22, 2004. The speakers were Jes Bjarup (Stockholm), Mårten Schultz (Stockholm), Torben Spaak (Uppsala), Leif Dahlberg (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, Stockholm), Joakim Nergelius (Örebro), and Görel Granström (Umeå).

December 11–13, 2004, a seminar was held at the Law Faculty, Lund University, with about 20 invited persons. The seminar was devoted to the preparation of the IVR Encyclopaedia of Jurisprudence, Legal Theory and Philosophy of Law.

Professors Jes Bjarup (Stockholm University), Åke Frändberg (Uppsala University) and Aleksander Peczenik (Lund University) retired at the end of 2004. The new course co-ordinators with respect to Jurisprudence and Philosophy of Law are Peter Wahlgren (Stockholm), Torben Spaak (Uppsala) and Christian Dahlman (Lund).
