Brief Introduction to the Jurisprudence Institute of the China Law Society
The Jurisprudence Institute of the China Law Society (JICLS) was founded in 1985. The current President is Prof. XU Xianmiang, who is the commissioner of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress and also the President of Shandong University. Prof. QI Yanping, Dean of the Law Faculty of Shandong University, is the Secretary-General.The JICLS now has 11 counsellors and 191 members, most of them come from the major universities, relevant national institutions and research institutions. Among 39 executive members, 16 vices presidents and the general secretary are all the research leaders of elite universities and research institutions.
In last 23 years, the JICLS has paid a lot of attention to topics of theoretic and practical significance and organized relevant discussions in various forms. We had focused on such issues occurred in the process of China’s reform and economic globalization as social transformation and legal evolution, humanity and legal development, harmony and rule of law, and so on. Some of the JICLS members used to hold lectures for Chinese leaders, and participated in law and policy-making.
Being a member of IVR, the JICLS has taken an active part in all kinds of activities held by IVR. Now the JICLS devotes itself to the 24th IVR Congress. For more information about the congress you can visit http://www.ivr2009.com or http://www.chinalawsociety.com.
